The sword that was of no use anymore dissolved and disappeared. The Earth started to split and Demetri jumped to one side! "Woah! What the heck!" he shouted as he jumped. Once it stopped splitting, Demetri sat down on a log he found on the ground. After he calmed down, he read the note over and over again, going over what he just saw. "I can't believe it! What does Mushroom Forest mean?" The note also looked very old and had burnt edges. He started to wonder to himself, "Exactly how old is this note?"

He didn't have time to think about it much, though. As the thought came into his mind, cracking of thunder started to roar in the sky above, sounding like rumbles, gunshots and whips. Then, a flash of lightning shot across the sky, making the dark of night seem like the light of daylight for a split second. It immediately began to rain, and Demetri stuffed the note in his pocket so that the rain would not smear the letters. He began to run through the rain and shed a single tear. "I don't have a house anymore, I have a mysterious letter I don't understand and I'm already soaked from the rain that just decided to pour down at the worst moment!" He sat down under a tree in a forest nearby to take a break from all the running. He was breathing heavily and crying. "Where is the Mushroom Forest?" He thought, "Maybe it's nice there, well at least, better than where I am right now." He was now sobbing uncontrollably. "Maybe if I walk some more, I'll find a better place to lay my head." He slowly got up and began slow his weeping as he walked along. Without noticing, he began to get a little scared of the shadows of his surroundings and the flashes of lightning followed by the rumbles of thunder, and he began running in fear. An ear-splitting crack of thunder sounded and he closed his eyes tightly and ran faster. He was so scared, he didn't know which direction he was going and he tripped over a rock and found himself falling down a hole. "WAAAAAAAAHHH!" he opened his eyes and felt his hair fly out of his face as he fell headfirst down what seemed to be an endless hole. A few suspenseful seconds later, he hit the ground, and blacked out from such impact.

When Demetri awoke, he found he was in a little hole. He got up and wobbled a little bit from the pain of the fall, but managed to stay standing. He took a look at his surroundings, just some rocks and branches sticking out of the wall, not much. But, there was one thing that caught his interest. A winding tunnel as dark as a stormy sky on a new moon. He put on a look of doubt, but told himself, "Well, it is kinda scary, but it seems there is no other way I can get out of here." So he got up, brushed himself off, and limped quietly down the mysterious tunnel. After a few minutes of walking, he eventually saw a faint light in the distance. "Maybe this is the way out!" he thought and immediately began to dash toward the light. As he neared the brightness, he realized that it was actually a cave filled with towering trees and endless amounts of glowing mushrooms poking out of the ground. There was a little hole hundreds of feet above in the cave where a little bit of moonlight seeped through. "What a beautiful place. But where am I?" He wondered.

He then remembered the note he stuck into his pocket earlier before he blacked out. He jammed his hand into his pocket and felt the touch of the paper against his fingers. "It wasn't a dream! How could I forget!?" Demetri's eyes grew wider as he stared at the glowing, majestical underground forest.

"I guess this means that person will be waiting here..." He remembered the message on the note and wanted to keep going, but it was very late and Demetri could feel the pain in his leg from the fall even more than we awoke. "I think it will be fine if I wait till tomorrow to see that person. I think they'll understand if I tell them what happened." He sat down under the nearest tree with the most grass for a cushion. "Maybe I'll feel a lot better after a little rest." So he lay down and the sleepy and exhausted boy dozed off to sleep.
This is chapter two of The Mushroom Forest! Hope you like it! Yay! This is so much fun!

I give credit to :iconwolfgirlwithcatears: and my brother, Alton.

I also give credit to :icontrunksi: for the title picture! It's not mine! I know that the character in the picture is a girl and the main character of this story is a guy, but it just resembles what I think Demetri's expression would look like in this chapter! :la:
